High School Honors: Four year letterman; Ran 880 and mile in national competition; set state record for 880 (1:56.4) which stood for almost 50 years

Post High School Career: Cornell University runner; Coach - cross country and track and field; coach of successful 1933 Washington HS team; Vice Principal of Washington HS and was famous for his ability to run down anyone who tried to escape his discipline
