Commentary:

Based on the solid attributes I learned in all sports and tried to hold on to in life — dedication and perseverance — I moved to Los Angeles and in 1955 joined the Beverly Hills Police Department with thoughts of becoming an FBI agent. I served as a police officer and detective for 10 years. During that time I attended Southwestern University Law School in LA and passed the California bar exam in 1965.

I spent 7 years doing trial and administrative work for the LA District Attorneys Office. In 1972 I was appointed as a Judge to the Los Angeles Municipal Court by Governor Ronald Reagan, then in 1978 to the LA Superior Court by Governor Jerry Brown, where I supervised all of the Criminal Courts in LA County in 1985.

In 1986 I was appointed an Associate Justice on the California Court of Appeal by Governor George Deukmejian, retiring in 1992. Throughout my legal positions and career I was fortunate to receive quite a few civic and legal awards from various organizations, including the University of Portland Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996.

To keep my mind active and working in my senior years, I am still active in the legal field serving as an Arbitrator and Mediator in Civil cases. I love the law as I love the field of sports.
