Commentary:

There are two lessons that have stuck with me over the years. Both of these lessons were learned in athletics and reinforced in both my coaching career and my work life. The first lesson I learned from athletics is that persistence and hard work always yield results. The second lesson I learned is the undeniable power of belief and confidence.

A saying I heard that always stuck with me was "Whether you think you can or you can't you're right."

I was extremely blessed to have incredible coaching from my earliest athletic exposure. My father coached my in my early years and I later joined a club where we were groomed for success both physically and mentally. In high school I was coached by Monty Rurrey who was as tough as anyone I ever met.

I would love to say as a father and a coach I was able to pass along great knowledge, but the truth is, in both areas I have learned more than I have ever taught and I have gained much more than I have given.
