Being an athlete strengthened the core of my life. It taught me to focus on what I do well. It helped me to understand that we all have gifts and we excel in life when we work to hone the skills we are best at and perform them to best of our abilities. My experiences with athletics gave me confidence to move through life, partner effectively, and understand the power of team and the joy of achieving goals. Friendships formed in the process have stood the test of time.

Participation expanded my core family and enabled me to move forward in the world without fear. It helped me not only to be physically tough but mentally tough also. It helped me to successfully complete a 20 year military career.

I have taken pleasure in sharing my knowledge and experience with basketball with the young men and women in my family. Showing them and helping them to become technicians of the sport. It's been a central component of creating fun times with them and creating family memories.

I loved playing the game of basketball and the success I had with it was life changing and I am grateful for that. These individuals were mentors to me, Coach Dick Gray, Buzz Borquist, Harold Rowe, Coach Ollie Johnson, and Vearl Overton.
