Commentary:
From the time I could walk I had some piece of sports equipment in my hands. Sports have always been a part of my life. I don’t know if I’m where I am today without them. The thing I love most about sports is the life lessons they teach you–that you don’t realize in the moment. Teamwork, determination, dedication, failure, all things you need to be successful not only in sports, but school and life. Sports came pretty easy to me as a child and teenager, and it wasn’t until high school where I learned the valuable lessons that helped me succeed as a student-athlete and become the person I am today.
Nothing came easy once I walked through those doors at Cleveland, and I couldn’t be happier that it didn’t. I learned so much about myself from the bumps in the road that came throughout my high school journey as both a student and an athlete. I loved every moment of my time at Cleveland as a student-athlete and I was proud to be a Warrior. From being a part of the group that played the first night games at Cleveland Stadium, to being a part of a League Championship football team hosting a playoff game on our field–those are moments that I’m very proud to be a part of within the history of our school.
There are so many people who helped me get to where I’m at today including my friends and teammates, my parents for all of their sacrifices, the Cleveland community, and of course my coaches. I don’t want to name drop and leave anyone out, but they know who they are. They helped me reach my potential and were a huge influence on the career path of education that I went down. It is a tremendous honor to be inducted into the PIL Hall of Fame and I am extremely grateful to be a part of this prestigious group.
