Commentary:
“Rub some dirt on it and get back out there.” That was always what my grandpa told me when I got hurt or struggled in sports. I live by that each day, it is my motto for life.
My grandpa, Dave Voll, is the one who pushed me and taught me even when things get hard you can’t let it defeat you. You have to get back up and keep trying, keep fighting and never give up. I wouldn’t have been the athlete I was or the person I am today without him.
This award isn’t only for me, it’s for us. We did this together as a team and I’m grateful that this is something else we get to share.
I wouldn’t have been able to do any of these things without the love and support of my parents and my grandma. They were my support system, my biggest fans and I want them to know how thankful I am for always being there.
