Commentary:

Participating in athletics has served an important role in my life to say the least starting from the age of 8 playing baseball with the boys as a little leaguer to the present as a Physical Education teacher.

Athletics has taught me that something worth having is something worth fighting for. It was the catalyst that made it possible to complete high school and college — helping me to maintain focus and discipline to achieve many goals in my life. It taught me how to endure hardships and overcome adversity and believe in myself and others to achieve common goals. It opened up so many doors and has given me so many opportunities that I know I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. For that I am very grateful and blessed.

I am also grateful to all the coaches that I had that helped guide and influenced me along the way and to all the incredible teammates that enriched my life. I’m especially grateful and thankful to my parents who sacrificed so much to make it possible for me to live out my dreams. Now that I am a wife, a mother, a teacher, and a coach, I incorporate the things I have learned through participating in sports to help guide and encourage my students, as well as my own children, to be the best they can be mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. My life has been truly blessed. For that I give thanks to my friends and family, my loving husband Clark— and to God!
