Commentary:
One thing I learned upon entering the halls of the Grant High School was "Tradition" and the legacy of great scholar athletes as well as accomplishments of alumni.
Playing sports was something that gave me the opportunity to represent our school and meet and compete with many great athletes and good people—many of whom created a lifetime of friendships. All of my coaches taught the importance of being the best we could be. Winning was fun, but most important was learning to be a good citizens and respect others.
I am always proud of my upbringing. My father George and mother Patti were always supportive, as well as my siblings. Being known as "The son of George" has always been an honor I appreciate more and more every year.
To all the aspiring young athletes currently in high school, I have one bit of advice which I tell my children frequently, "Put down your smart-phone and tablet and go play ball, get involved…"
