Commentary:
My best memories of high school were centered around sports. Sports pushed me to perform and challenge myself to always do my best. I have practiced that throughout my life. The relationships I had with my teammates and coaches were like no other I have had since. One of the most important to me was the one with my basketball coach Jim MacDicken. My father died while I was at Jackson and Mac kept me steady and focused on moving forward though the hard times when I felt lost. I don’t know what I would have done without his compassion and guidance. And he continues to be an important part of my life. He has been a mentor for my three grown children since they were young. Mac has touched so many lives and I am so blessed that he is part of mine. The lessons I learned while playing sports at Jackson set me up for success in life. It is my honor to be part of the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame. Thank you.
