Commentary:

I have two athletic inspirations that have defined me as an athlete. One would definitely be my family. I come from an athletic family from both of my parents sides. Everybody from my mother to her brothers, and my grandfather (who played every sport possible), to my father—being a multisport athlete as well (baseball, track and field and basketball).

My family started me in sports and as I grew they were the ones that made me the player that I am today. Without their influence, you would not see the tough, competitive, hungry, passionate player that is being inducted today. They taught me the game, they were my toughest critics, they were my cheerleaders and my biggest supporters. Without them I would not be receiving this great recognition. I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for me as a player and a person.

My second athletic inspiration would have to be my college teammates (University of Minnesota). They were the ones that helped me through my first experience with adversity when it came to basketball. They were my family away from home—they believed in me when I didn’t believe in my own basketball ability anymore. They were the ones that pushed me to become great when I wanted to give up on the one thing that I couldn’t live without. I had never been around a group of girls that would fight and go to battle for each other the way they went for each other every single day no matter what. I have never been around another group of women with such influence on my life. Their impact helped mold and create the player and person that I am today and I will be forever grateful for their influence on my life.
