High School Honors: 2-year letter winner in basketball junior & senior years, starting forward. 2-year letter winner in baseball, All-PIL as senior (outfield); Played American Legion 1940-42.
Post High School Career: 4-year baseball letter winner at University of Oregon, first team All-Northern Division in ’47 & ’48. Semi-pro Baseball Congress All-Star, 1943, 46, 47. Played professionally with Salem Senators, 1949-50. Radio-operator for the Navy; taught math, first in Roseburg, retiring in the early ’80’s from David Douglas. His sports interest lived on as a referee in football and basketball and umpire in baseball in Portland metro area high schools and small colleges. He died in 2012.
