Commentary:
Being part of a team and participating in sports was strongly encouraged in my family and without that push; I may never have found my inner competitiveness. Competing in cross country, basketball and track were distinct experiences and required focus and determination in different ways. Tom Thomas and Jean Cheshire at basketball, Dave Bailey at cross country and Robin Marks chasing me across the infield of the track, yelling at me to keep pushing, all made a lasting impression on my life. Having successes and plenty of failures on the field and court were instrumental in shaping me into a productive adult, with a little more competitiveness than normal.
Today I am a real estate developer living in Portland and still love competing in, coaching and watching sports of all kinds. My husband is thankfully very competitive and athletic and we plan to enjoy many years watching our three kids participate in lots of sports.
I would especially like to thank my parents for their never-ending support, love, inspiration and genes! Being inducted into the PIL Hall of Fame is such an honor.
