Commentary:
An achievement such as this can only remind me of all the relationships and memories I have made while playing sports. From waking up at 5am for practice as young boy, to traveling the country to compete at the highest level, I vividly remember the feeling of comradery with teammates. Many of these teammates have gone on to be my best friends, many of whom I see regularly in my life. In addition, sports have taught me so many lessons and are responsible for shaping the person I have become. Perseverance, confidence and humility are characteristics that I can thank sports for helping me hone as a young man.
I would also like to say thank you to my coaches for their guidance and belief in my abilities. Coaches Tom Gustafson, Jeff Erdman and Dave Candelo deserve special attention for the amount of time and effort they put into helping me sharpen my skills — both in sports and in life.
None of the memories I cherish would have been possible without the love and support of my parents Vaughn and Barbara. I am everlastingly grateful for the sacrifices they endured so that I could play sports at a high level. Thank you for helping me achieve this great honor.
