Commentary:
Growing up, I guess I was fortunate to live four blocks from the Boy’s Club. I started going
there when I was about nine years old. That is where I started my love of sports. I played everything from Ping Pong & Chess to baseball, basketball and football. I went every chance I could.
In eighth grade, I had surgery and did not participate in football until my Junior year at John Marshall High School. I went to Marshall at the best time with the best group of athletes. All my coaches in high school coached with discipline while always respecting the athletes. That is how I have tried to run my small business for the last 35 years!
I know a lot of people don’t look back fondly on their high school years, but I loved Marshall; I loved my coaches (Everett, Smethurst, Francine, and Monahan) and my time there being part of Marshall’s greatest football and track successes. This has led to a life long love of sports. I have coached my son in baseball, basketball, & soccer and have passed that love on to him as well.
After 45 years, people tend to lose track of the youthful memories—thanks for bringing them back.
