Commentary:

From an early age, athletics—particularly basketball—was a big part of my life. I remember competing in different sports against my older brothers, David and Dan, who were great athletes in their own rights, and loving the challenge of always improving.

My favorite memory from Wilson was winning the 1985 AAA state basketball championship. Sharing that victory with the entire school, and the local community, was truly memorable. In particular, I remember that our coach, Dick Beachell, shared these inspirational words with the team in the locker room before the championship game: “Don’t look back and wonder what if.” That statement has stayed with me and has been a great overall life lesson.

An honor such as this is not an individual achievement. I would like to thank all of my coaches and teammates who helped me along the way. Finally, I would like to thank my parents, Mark and Leah, and my entire family for their love and support, and for providing me the opportunity to pursue my basketball ambitions. None of this would be possible without them.
