Bill Wiitala Senator Alumni Fieldhouse Update
Walsh Construction finished their work on The Bill Wiitala Senator Alumni Fieldhouse at McDaniel High School in late September and are working through the final occupancy permits with the City of Portland. Installation of an elaborate heavy duty rail system that moves and carries up to four baseball and softball safety nets will be installed shortly after and then the installation of wall-to-wall artificial turf. Paver pathways extend access to the two main entrances and two larger patio and paver pathways extend from the larger roll-up door to the fields on the South and the Track and Football Stadium on the North.
The Madison Alumni Association hired award winning Infinity Images, an integrated design, print, and fabrication house headquartered in NE Portland to create a mural styled timeline depicting the Bill Wiitala's era and his significant influence on students, players, teams, coaches, and the community. Every donor will be named and highlighted as well as Impact Coaches, a program honoring donations in the name of over a dozen coaches on other inside walls. A grand opening celebration is targeted for early November.
For further information, or to donate, please contact Bill Booth at [email protected] or at 503-616-8427.
