Commentary
Athletics is the greatest metaphor for life, and the wisdom I acquired from playing goes well beyond the arena, particularly during my formative years in the PIL at Lincoln. The coaches, teammates, community members and more taught me what real support and a team-first mentality is all about. As I reflect on my playing days, I can’t emphasize how much the discipline, perseverance and competition made me a more complete person and successful professional.
My teammates have become my lifelong best friends, business partners and stood in my wedding. Coaches, parents and administrators remain mentors that have opened career doors and business ventures. I can’t imagine my life without sports, and I’m grateful and honored to be part of the PIL HOF.
It’s invaluable we continue to foster athletics and its lessons for future generations. The experiences and relationships sports offer have never been more important to our young people, and I can’t thank everyone involved in the PIL and its ecosystem enough. Thank you for all you did for me personally, but even more for what you do for all kids, our community, our city and beyond.
