Post High School Career: University of Kansas; on 2 Final Four Teams in 2002 and 2003, All Big 12 Team in 2005. Played professional Basketball for the Harlem Globetrotters and in France, Canada and Kansas. Coached College Basketball Gardner Webb (N. Carolina) and the University of San Francisco.
Commentary:
One of the most profound statements I’ve heard was “don’t let talent distort your values.” We’re all blessed with unique talents, but this doesn’t grant one the right to mistreat people. This coincides with what Jacque Vaughn once told me: “people won’t always remember what you say or what you do, but they will always remember how you make them feel.”
I credit my competitiveness to my Mother and Father. They taught me to give 100% or don’t waste their time and mine. My inspiration has always been and still is my family. I’m the youngest of five children. Being able to see my sister excel on the basketball court and the soccer field, or watch my brother dominate at baseball, football and basketball had a profound impact on me at a very early age. They set the bar very high for me. My Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters are my heroes.
